New Musical Written by Alumna Roxanne Lamendola Grant

Updated: Feb 4, 2021

Inspired by the musical journey of the South Florida-based band China Doll, "Unraveling" bravely tells a story of self-discovery as seen through the eyes of three siblings who form a rock band after surviving a disturbing and abusive childhood. The haunting score is comprised of songs by the real-life band, and threaded together in a book navigating the murky waters of healing and redemption, written by the lead singer’s daughter, Roxanne Lamendola Grant (Class of 2007).

The world-premiere reading of "Unraveling" was presented at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Two songs from the show were finalist selections for the Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize in 2016 and 2018, and were performed on London's West End in association with The Stephen Sondheim Society Performer of the Year Competition.

The show is currently being workshopped at American Heritage Center for the Arts in Plantation, Florida. Mr. Johnpaul Moccia directs its first-ever digital production with the Upper School Theatre Arts students, premiering February 5th - 8th, 2021.

"Unraveling" is presented as a video-on-demand option. Find tickers here.
