Paul Rudd stars in 'The Shrink Next Door' Mini-Series

Apple TV+ has just released a new mini-series, “The Shrink Next Door,” starring Academy alumnus Paul Rudd (Class of 1991) alongside comic legends Will Ferrell and Kathryn Hahn. The first three episodes were released on November 12th, with the following episodes streaming weekly on Apple TV+.

Based on true events (and the podcast of the same name), the story follows Martin "Marty" Markowitz (Ferrell), whose life is seemingly falling apart despite his financial success. Taking advice from his sister Phyllis (Hahn), Marty visits a professional therapist. Enter Dr. Isaac "Ike" Herschkopf (Rudd) who forms a close bond with Marty, blurring professional boundaries and entrenching himself in Marty's psyche. Dr. Herschkopf would turn tidal waves into tsunamis over the course of their 30-year long friendship. Marty would later allege Dr. Herschkopft took control of his finances, moved into and pretended to own his home in the Hamptons, and orchestrated an estrangement from his family.

Rudd commented on working with his lifelong friend: “Will’s one of my favorite actors and one of my favorite people, so, to get to work with him is just a blast. Any chance I can get, I will take it.”
